One of the big news items last night was the announced availability of Adobe’s Apollo platform for developers; albeit an Alpha release. I caught wind of it even before the RSS feeds started filling up with the announcement by a question asked by Robert Scoble on Twitter

I think that this is going to be one of the top questions in developer circles for some time to come as Adobe moves forward with it’s cross-platform development tool. Chances are user’s will take to it but will developer’s who have career’s invested in Microsoft / Window’s dev platforms do the same?

As someone who has - shall we say - retired from developing I know that my download finger is getting itchy at the thought of being able to develop a program that will truly work across supported platforms.

Either way stuff like this from TechCrunch and Mashable are only the tip of the iceberg of what we will see in the days to come as Apollo takes off in the development world. Who knows maybe my download itch will get the better of me and I’ll have some first hand thoughts on it.
